Adding to an Existing Order

Narrative

Hierarchy: Music Room

Sorting of Spaces

By analyzing the Smith House, designed in 1965 by Richard Meier, we are to plan an addition without taking taking away from the original plan.

The Smith’s have recently purchased, and wish to commission for an addition to Richard Meier’s design from 1965. In order to preserve his original design, the new designs must not obstruct or destroy any of the pre-existing structures. The Smith’s are a family of musical aficionados, and the wife is quite taken to the harp. In order to compliment the family’s hobby, the design will include a subtle tribute towards the instrument.
